Riyada for Social Innovation SAL participated in Earth Hour 2018 in Beirut Waterfront and increased awareness on the U.N. 2030 sustainable development goals and the role of the youth in making a change. The theme for this year’s edition was #SeaOfPlastic#Connect2Earth
Earth Hour is a global environmental movement organized by WWF that mobilizes hundreds of millions of people to raise awareness for the planet. Across the globe, whole cities turn their lights off for an hour to encourage people to take action beyond the hour. It has achieved massive environmental impact, including legislation changes by harnessing the power of the crowd.
Our religions divide us, our politics divide us, our social statuses divide us, even our languages divide us. But today, our earth unites us.
It is not just about turning off our lights for an hour, it is about uniting for Mother Earth. Her well-being is intricately linked to ours and this event shows the importance and beauty of having a unified voice. Let us work together towards saving the planet and thus saving ourselves!
It is in your hands.
Real power is in the people.
Go one hour without power.
